Prang Kaek : Lopburi's oldest monument


Prang Khaek is the oldest monument of Lop Buri and the oldest Khmer-style Hindu Shrine to be found in Thailands central region. A fascinating small compound of Khmer remains, it consists of the three brick prangs constructed without adjoining corridors. Prang Khaek was restored by King Narai the Great in the 17th century. Recently restored by the Fine Arts Department, it is located on Vichayen Road, near the Narai Ratchaniwet Palace.

Wat Khongkharam This is a Mon monastery over 200 years old and originally called "Wat Klang" or "Phia To". King Mongkut gave it a new name as "Wat Khongkharam". The beauty of the main shrine hall is very interesting and worth studying. Wat Khongkharam is located in Amphoe Photharam, some 22 kilometers from Ratchaburi.

Wat Mahathat Worawihan : Phetchaburi



about 500 meters from the city hall, an ancient temple on the west bank of Phetchaburi river. There is a five-peak pagoda which is assumed to have been built in Khmer period. (approximvately 800 years ago). Within the biggest peak of the pagoda lies relics of Buddha which were presented by the King in 1954.

The most impressionable site is the beautiful and elaborately decorated stucco molded by Petchaburi artisans. One can see the intricate and detailed work done by the former artisans and the new generations. As well included inside the edifice are various images of
Buddha, 3 of which are highly respected and cherished by the people of Phetchaburi.

Morakot Historical Park : Prachinburi



This historical site is located at Wat Sramorakot, Tambon Kokthai, Amphoe Sri Mahosot. From Prachinburi, Follow Route 319 for a distance of approximately 23 Kilometers then turn left for approximately 500 meters. This group of ancient ruins were built during the 14th - 18th centuries of the Buddhist Era (7th - 8th centuries A.D. )


Lord Buddha's footprints

Among the ruins, there are
Lord Buddha's footprints, which are the largest and oldest in Thailand. Dach footprint is approximately 1.30 meters wide and 3.50 meters long, and has the Wheel of Dharma at the middle of the sole.
